GLAZED is the first Sketch in a developing work about gratitude: our tendency to measure life by what is missing while overlooking the weight, color, sweetness and substance that remain.

The painting stopped as soon as the donut became clearly understood. The unresolved blue remains as evidence that this is not merely a product to consume, but an idea still becoming.
