The Record preserves the quiet marks left behind during a year of studio work.

The sheet sat on the artist’s table while other drawings were created. Graphite tests, scoring, smudges, and fragments of motion accumulated naturally across its surface as tools were sharpened, ideas were explored, and compositions were developed.

Rather than erasing the page, it was preserved and framed.

What appears at first glance to be an empty field becomes, on closer inspection, a subtle ledger of time spent working — a physical trace of the studio’s activity.

Every mark exists because something else was made.

The Record is not an image in the traditional sense.
